NYC subway rider murdered, robbed after refusing to join ‘East Ape Brick Squad’ street gang

Two beasts mauled a Manhattan subway rider and tore up his Jordan sneakers late Monday night — with the victim apparently targeted after he refused to join a street gang, sources said.

According to authorities and sources, the 21-year-old victim was exiting the No. 6 train station at East 77th Street and Lexington Avenue on the Upper East Side at about 10:15 p.m. when the attackers approached him.

Sources said one man held the victim down while the other beat him.

Police and sources said that one of the attackers also hit the youth on the head with a kitchen knife, injuring him.

Police said they then took away his Jordans, which were worth about $260.

Sources said the victim told investigators he recognized one of the suspects – who had previously approached him and asked if he would join his gang, a Bloods affiliate called the East Ape Brick Squad.

According to sources, the victim said she rejected the offer and said the pair had since turned against her.

The two suspects locked up and sat comfortably on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.
