As a young actress growing up in Hollywood, Candace Cameron Bure suffered from embarrassment.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, the “Full House” alum, who starred as DJ Tanner for eight seasons, opened up about her first kiss with co-star Scott Curtis in front of a live studio audience on set. I spoke. 90’s show.
“I remember it was very embarrassing because I knew my parents were standing off to the side, watching it,” said Bure, who kissed Curtis’ character Kevin Gwynn in an episode titled “13 Candles” in 1990. “You have an audience.” Of the 200 people watching you do it. You have camera people, producers, directors and other actors on stage.”
“I remember just blushing, thinking, ‘Oh my God, I’m about to have my first kiss at 13,'” she recalled. “Again, this act is not shameful, but it is when you are a teenager, everything is shameful. But I remember when Scott was cast, he was so sweet. He was really sweet, and we really enjoyed working with each other. So I said, okay, that would be good.”
Bure, who is currently starring in a few films for this year’s Great American Family Christmas lineup, including “A Christmas Less Traveled” and “Home Sweet Christmas.” He said that the two never actually kissed during rehearsals.
“And then it was like once we actually got to tape the scene, we went for that peck, and yes, I think he was telling a story where we were giving each other breath spray. I think we were just trying to be as playful and fun and relaxed about it as possible and break down the nerves that were between the two of us. And it was very innocent.”
“But I think about it now, even as a parent and think about my kids at 13 years old and it’s like, Oh my God, their first in front of hundreds of people. It’s really embarrassing to kiss and then have millions of people know we’re going to see it,” she added.
Last month, during an appearance on “Full House” alums Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber’s podcast, “How rude, Tanerritos!, Curtis went into detail about her first kiss with Bure.
He said, “I was excited to audition and they said I was going to be Candace’s first kiss.” “So, when I came in and did the first table read with you guys, I took it seriously. I knew it was a big moment.”
“Certainly, over the rest of the week, you can feel the growth happening,” he added. “The night we filmed it, we actually had to perform it with an audience and then without an audience because [‘Full House’ creator] Jeff Franklin wanted the audience to say ‘Woah’ one time.”
That moment really helped form a strong friendship between the two young actors, said Curtis.
“After two episodes, Candace and I became friends,” he said. “We were talking on the phone and giggling, laughing and having fun. I remember the last thing he and I said to each other was, ‘We’ll see you at the wrap party.’
Earlier this year, Bure talked about his bond with his “Full House” castmates, which included John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Sweetin, Barber and the late Bob Saget.
“We are all close friends. We’re, like, constantly in touch. I always feel happy when [the media calls] They reunite because I’m like, ‘We’re really hanging out with family,'” she told Fox News Digital. “But sometimes we do it in public.”
These days, Bure, who will become chief creative officer of the Great American Family Channel in 2022, is continuing her mission of creating faith and family-based content.
His specialty? Christmas!
“To be honest, it’s been 15 years since I’ve been shooting Christmas stuff all year round, and so I’m used to it,” said Bure, who has appeared in several Christmas films during the fourth annual Great American Christmas franchise this season. Acting. “I feel like I’ve become synonymous with these Christmas movies. I really love making them. I love Christmas so much and so at this point, 15 years later, it feels very natural to say, ‘Yeah, it’s Christmas 24/7.'”
He added, “I really love our lineup at the Great American Family Channel.” “They are heart-touching films. You have prince and princess movies, you have some really fun musical Christmas movies with songs. I mean, they’re fantastic. And then you’ll probably take out the tissues for my movies.
“So there’s quite a lineup, and I love all the talent we have, and I want people to be entertained,” she said. “I want them to feel relaxed, laugh and be happy and whatever they enjoy watching these Christmas movies, we have one for everyone. So, whether you like to laugh or you want this song and dance, or you want tears, we’ve got them.”
