I love you so much and can't wait to see what you've helped me achieve, what you've inspired me to do,” she continued. “It's so easy to take life's ups and downs and trials for granted, but you, your brother, and your sister have shown me why it's important to keep moving forward!”
According to her divorce filing, the mother of three asked for primary custody of her kids and child support from Offset.
The petition states that the oft-separated couple have experienced “irreconcilable differences which have led to the breakdown of the marriage” and that “there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.”
Cardi and Offset married in 2017 and The two maintained a distance from each other for a long time during their marriage. The two first decided to separate in 2018 amid cheating rumors.
They publicly reunited in 2019, attending events and awards ceremonies together before calling it quits in 2020. At the time, Cardi filed for divorce before dismissing the proceedings later that year.
Fast forward to 2023, the couple had broken up once again. Last time I went live I wanted to tell you guys, but I didn't know how to tell you, so I changed my mind. But now it's been like that for a minute. I just took it as a sign.”
She admitted that she was looking for a fresh start at that time.
“I want to start 2024 with a fresh start, with openness,” the superstar said. “I don't know. I'm looking forward to a new life, a new beginning. And yes, I'm excited.”
Last May, after a brief reconciliation over the New Year, the “Up” singer reflected on the status of her relationship with Offset.
“I'm thinking about it,” Cardi revealed Rolling Stone“We think deeply about it, because we love each other. It's not even about love. We're best friends. And it's like, 'Okay. Well, there was a time when I didn't have a best friend, or I didn't have a support system.'”
Cardi added, “It’s not even about, ‘How do you leave your partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend?”
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper admitted she put her career and kids ahead of her partner.
“Sometimes I don't realize that I'm prioritizing a lot of things ahead of my relationship,” Cardi said.
Despite her ex-boyfriend's ups and downs, Cardi treasures the close relationship they had.
“What I like most about it is that we really like each other, like a support system,” he said. “We're each other's cheerleaders.”
Offset was the first partner who lifted Cardi up instead of tearing her down.
“He never made me feel like I was too young for him,” she said. “He would always tell me, 'You're such a superstar, keep watching.'”
