Chad Duell is saying goodbye to “General Hospital.”
The 37-year-old actor announced on Saturday that he has quit the film soap opera seriesDuell has played the role of Michael Corinthos since 2010.
“After several incredible years with General Hospital, I have decided to step away from the show,” Duell wrote. an instagram post,
“This was not an easy decision for me,” he continued, “but it feels like it is the right time in my life. I am so grateful to Frank Valentini, the cast, crew and everyone behind the scenes who have been like family to me during this amazing journey.
Duell continued, “To all the fans: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering support and for making Michael Corinthos a part of your life. Your love and encouragement means a lot to me :).”
“This is not goodbye – see you later. Lots of love, Chad,” she concluded her message.
“General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini shared a post on x (formerly Twitter) addressing the future of Duel’s character.
“I’m saddened to confirm the news of Chad Duell’s exit from #GeneralHospital,” Valentini, 62, wrote. “I have loved working with Chad over the years and wish him nothing but the best. He is a fantastic actor and will be missed by everyone on #GH.”
Valentini said, “There are no plans at this time to reprise his role, but you never know in the daytime.” “I can promise a great story for Michael and his family when Chad walks out in the New Year.”
The role of Michael Corinthos, the son of AJ Quartermaine (Sean Kanan) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), was originally played by Dylan Cash from 2002 to 2008, and then by Drew Garrett from 2009 to 2010.
Duell took over the role in 2010. He won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2015.

“I feel like he always puts his family first and his intentions have always been good,” the actor said. “He likes to give people the benefit of the doubt; He is not malicious and is very protective and supportive of his family and always wants to maintain peace. Robert Adamson, 39, has played the role of Michael intermittently since 2022, when Duell’s schedule conflicted. It’s possible that Adamson may now take over the role permanently.
