A new, fancy cocktail served in Chicago, Illinois will set you back thousands.
Adalina, a restaurant serving Italian cuisine to Windy City patrons, has introduced a new twist on the expensive martini.
Whether the drink is stirred or not, the martini includes a special piece of diamond jewellery.
The restaurant, headed by Top Chef alumnus Soo Ahn, has collaborated with jewellery brand Maro Fine, located right below the restaurant, to offer guests the ultimate luxury experience.
The “Maro Martini” is also offered with a 9-cwt diamond tennis necklace, consisting of 150 diamonds set in 14 karat gold.
Adalina's manager Collin Hofer told Fox News Digital via email that as far as the staff is aware, it is likely the most expensive martini in the United States.
“What makes Marro Martini truly unique is the perfect blend of fine jewellery and luxurious food. It's not just about cocktails – it's about creating a great experience,” he said.
Hofer said the inspiration behind the drink was derived from high-end jewellery.
And, the way this drink is prepared sets it apart from your typical martini.
“Instead of a traditional spirit like gin or vodka, I chose mezcal because I believe it still has great potential as a luxury spirit. Mezcal, much like heirloom jewels, is often overlooked despite its richness. The specialty mezcal we use is a rare, sought-after brand made from green agave found in the desert of San Luis Potosí, Mexico,” said Hofer.
Marrow Fine founder Jillian Sassone told Fox News Digital via email that she suspects the drink will make for memorable evenings.
“Partnering with Adalina was a natural choice: not only because of its proximity, but also because of top chef, Soo Ahn's world-class menu. Every time I have visited Adalina, I have been impressed by every dish, as well as the energy and enthusiasm that pervades the restaurant,” she said.
This martini is paired with other garden-inspired ingredients like tomato water, chili liqueur, and lemon basil olive oil for a deeper flavor.
“While this isn't something we expect to see sold out often, it has generated a lot of interest among our customers. It's more about creating a coveted experience for a select few rather than widespread popularity,” Hofer said.
Before being served, the cocktail is smoked in a glass cloche and then presented to the customer along with the necklace.
