Famed game show host Chuck Woolery, the first host of “Wheel of Fortune,” died Saturday. He was 83 years old.
Woolery’s death was announced by his friend and podcast co-host Mark Young in an X post.
“It is with a broken heart that I tell you that my beloved brother @chuckwoolery has just passed away. Life won’t be the same without him, RIP brother,” Dr. Mark Young wrote.
Although he immediately called 911, Woolery could not be saved.
Woolery’s big break in his career came in 1975 when he was named host of “Wheel of Fortune”.
He would remain in that position until 1981, when Pat Sajak would take over.
Woolery would later host shows such as “Love Connection,” “Scrabble,” and the revival of “The Dating Game.”
Chuck Woolery is survived by his wife Kim and their children Katherine, Melissa, Michael and Sean.
At present no cause of death is known.
