He doesn't need to work on his serve, after all.
man holding a cocktail US Open clip After the embarrassing footage went viral, he told the Post that “the guy who was being ignored by his date wasn't humiliated at all.”
“It was great that the US Open zoomed in on me and didn't let the video last two seconds,” the 43-year-old Brooklyn Heights Wall Street resident said.
The clip shows the man returning to his seat with two of the tournament's signature cocktails, the Honey Deuce, then attempting to pass a cocktail to the woman seated next to him when another man suddenly appears from the row above and hands her a $23 cocktail.
But the woman sitting next to him was not his wife and that drink was not for her.
He said his wife was sitting in the bottom row, but she was hidden from the frame of the video.
He was actually delivering drinks to her.
“If you look carefully in the bottom right corner of the video, you can see a white woman [a bob haircut]”I'm a man, and that's my wife. She's bent over and I'm actually looking at her,” said the man, who asked not to be named because he wants to leave behind the video, which has been viewed 11 million times.
“We were with another couple who are friends of ours and we were sitting together … my wife was sitting in the seat below the blonde lady, who is a friend of ours, and her husband was sitting in the seat above her, so she handed him the drink,” he said of the incident that took place Monday night at Louis Armstrong Stadium — which the US Open headlined, “This is Cinema.”
“There's always a long line there [at the bar]So I took one for the team and waited for 25 minutes. When I got back to our seats, I expected my wife to say, 'Thank you, dear,' but she was already holding [a honey deuce]So she was like, 'I don't want it,'” he recalled, laughing.
His wife, 41, said the couple had received hundreds of messages and had a good laugh over the clip.
“We emailed the US Open because we were wondering, 'Are we going to get some free tickets or something in exchange for this viral video?'” the wife said.
