The 97-year-old wooden roller coaster at Luna Park on Coney Island reopened Saturday after city inspectors gave it the approval following a series of repairs.

The city's Buildings Department said the operator was able to stop the bus and several passengers were evacuated without injuries.
Just the day before the accident, the DOB “inspected and approved the ride to open on August 21, 2024”, Luna Park wrote on its website after the incident, adding that operators intend to reopen it once it passes the DOB inspection.
As a result of the malfunction, Luna Park was issued two notices of violation: one for not maintaining the ride and one for failing to report the incident to the DOB.
City inspectors said the vehicle's inspection was completed Saturday morning after several days of testing.
“This American icon has captivated guests for nearly a century, and our dedicated team and attraction engineers are working to ensure this iconic 97-year-old venue continues to operate safely and smoothly,” Alessandro Zamperla, president and CEO of Central Amusements International, the amusement park’s owner, said in a statement.
