A fire at a Connecticut home on Thanksgiving was likely caused by a man frying a turkey inside the home’s garage, the fire department said.
In the pictures and videos of the fire, the house has been completely gutted and firefighters are running to extinguish the fire.
As the garage fire began to rapidly spread to the residence, firefighters attempted an aggressive fire attack, but were thwarted by hazardous fire conditions and structural collapse, the Weston Volunteer Fire Department said in a statement.
A car also ran over the hose firefighters were using to extinguish the fire, stopping the flow of water for several minutes.
The fire was eventually brought under control after 16 hours and the house was deemed uninhabitable.
There were no injuries and the official cause of the fire is under investigation.
The nearly $3 million home is 10,000 square feet, CT Insider reports, adding that about 25 people were in the home for Thanksgiving when the fire broke out around 3:40 p.m.
The Weston Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by several others, including the Westport, Wilton, Redding, West Redding, Georgetown, Weston and Ridgefield fire departments.
