Country music rocker Brantley Gilbert walked off the stage in the middle of his concert Friday night to help his pregnant wife deliver their baby on a tour bus during “the weirdest night of my life.”
Gilbert’s wife, Amber, went into labor just as the multiplatinum musician began his set at Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo, Miss. “Off the Rails Tour.”
“Bottoms Up” hitmaker shared a video Capturing the evening’s events on Instagram, she was suddenly pulled aside for an “emergency backstage.” Then they learned that Amber was going to welcome their third child on their tour bus.
“Last night might have been the craziest night of my life. “Seeing such an amazing woman do such an amazing thing is something I will never forget,” Gilbert wrote on Instagram.
As the video featured his 2019 song “Man That Hung the Moon” – a song about a father’s love for his child – the singer had an emotional FaceTime conversation with his mother.
She asked the singer how he was doing and he replied, “Not as good as you’re gonna be.” You’ve got a new grandson.”
“I’ve got a new grandson? “I do?” she replied excitedly as social media videos showed black-and-white photos of her holding the newborn baby in her arms.
When her mother asked how Amber was, she replied that she was “a freaking wild” before adding that she was “going to finish the show.”
Gilbert returned to the stage to tell his fans the news of the newest addition to his family.
“We got a baby!” he shouted in front of a large number of supporters, who responded with thunderous applause.
“Thank you to our Rode family for rallying around us, Brittany Thornton for helping us bring this little boy into the world, Tupelo, Mississippi for showing us crazy love and support, and most of all… Amber Gilbert, thank you for letting me love you and showing me how incredibly strong a woman can be. I love you.”
She also shared the special video on her Instagram Stories page and captioned it, “We’ve got a new member in the Gilbert family… God is good.”

The name of the newborn has not yet been revealed, but the baby will share a historic birthplace with Elvis Presley, who was also born in Tupelo.
The newborn will have two older siblings, Barrett, 6, and Braylen, 5.
Brantley and Amber Gilbert, founders of a hybrid homeschool group, met in high school and reconnected years later.
In a 2014 interview on “The Bobby Bones Show”, Amber said that their relationship was “on and off for a few years” before getting engaged in 2014. They got married in 2015.
