Heartbreaking dashcam video captures the terrifying moment a baby is thrown from a speeding car onto the side of an Ohio highway during a police chase – the infant miraculously survives.
Newly released footage obtained by The Post shows suspect Zachary Chervenka allegedly leading Bryan Police Department deputies on a reckless chase on Dec. 1, during which the child, who was still strapped into his car seat Was, is pushed to the middle.
A few minutes later the police take the child’s desperate mother to the scene – where they find him cold but alive.
“Is that a car seat?” A cop is heard saying as she approaches a highway off-ramp.
“Oh my God, that’s a car seat!” The boy’s mother screams. “Oh God, please let me out.”
The unidentified mother then exits the police cruiser crying.
“Child! Child!” Crying, she picks up her son and holds him in her arms. “Oh, mom caught you. He is very cold. Child. Okay, mom is here, mom is here. Oh baby, my baby.
“I’m so sorry baby,” she said. “Mommy’s got you.”
Online records show 32-year-old Chervenka, whom police identified as the child’s father, was wanted on multiple arrest warrants, including assault and theft.
He was sitting in the car at a local Walmart around 9:30 p.m., while the mother was inside shopping, when police saw him and drove off – along with the child and his sister.
The footage shows that police chased the vehicle but it was eventually stopped.
Bodycam footage shows police questioning the mother in a Walmart parking lot — who tells police that Chervenka had called her to say he had left the baby on the side of the road, and told her the location.
That’s when police took her to the scene and she was taken to a Toledo hospital and listed in fair condition, a miraculous reunion with the boy, according to a press release from Bryan police.
Police later caught Chervenka, who was charged with assault, child endangerment, failure to comply, car theft and other charges. He is being held in the local jail without bail.
