If there was one person who could handle Bob Saget, it was Kelly Rizzo.
Dave Coulier spoke exclusively to The Post about the widow of his former “Full House” co-star, who died in January 2022 at age 65.
“We love him so much,” Coulier, 64, said on behalf of the beloved sitcom’s cast, confirming they have stayed in touch with Rizzo, 45, in the two-and-a-half years since Saget’s passing.
“She was the perfect person for Bob,” Coulier added. “Because she dealt with all of his craziness, his quirks and his weird habits. And, you know, Bob was a whirling dervish of neurotic energy that was really fun. Very funny.”
Rizzo and Saget had been married for four years when the actor tragically died. Saget's autopsy revealed that his death was caused by a blow to the head. He likely fell backwards, causing a fracture of the base of his skull and bleeding around the brain.
Coulier told The Post that Rizzo — who went public earlier this year with her new boyfriend, “Clueless” actor Breckin Meyer — is doing the best she can.
“It's one of those things where you look at the gift of life that Bob gave us, and we celebrate that. But we also realize that life goes on,” he said.
“You can do one of two things. You can either fill the rest of your life with all these great memories, or you can move on, you know, and feel like, 'Oh my gosh, he's not here,'” Coulier explained. “So I think we all collectively have chosen the path of let's celebrate Bob for the rest of our lives. Because that's the right thing to do and that's what he would have wanted.”
Coulier is set to reunite with her “Full House” castmates Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber 90s Con This weekend in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Though he misses Saget, he wants special events like '90s Con to continue celebrating Saget and his legacy.
“Bob would always celebrate, no matter how sad we got,” Coulier said. “We know Bob would be laughing with us. So for us, this gives us a chance to keep his legacy and his life alive. And that's what we want to do.”
He added, “There's a lot of moments when we're huddled together and we're just like, hey, let's think about Bob for a moment. Because he was the glue that held us together. He was really the father of the whole group and would call everybody and text everybody a million times, and it would drive us crazy at the time, but it was really his way of showing affection and love for all of us.”
The second anniversary of Saget's death was in January 2024.
Rizzo honors late star Long message On the second anniversary of his death she spoke about the six years they spent together.
“2 years. Wow. Feels like a week and an eternity at the same time,” she captioned a post of Saget with a guitar. “I chose this photo of Bob because not only was it his last photo nor one of the last messages he ever sent to me, but it perfectly sums up how he would want us all to remember him. With his guitar, on a stage, doing what he loved to do… making people laugh… making people happy.”
