On Monday, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced that Indira Gandhi International Airport has achieved a major milestone by connecting to 150 destinations. This was made possible with the launch of direct flights between Delhi and Bangkok-Don Mueang (DMK) by Thai AirAsia X on Sunday, according to an official release. DIAL also highlighted that it is the first airport in the country to establish connectivity to 150 destinations. The airport handles around 1,400 flight movements every day.
“Delhi airport sets up special enclosures for delayed flight passengers”
In a recent development, special enclosures have been created at Delhi airport for passengers arriving from flights delayed by more than three hours. This initiative allows early re-entry into the terminal for their respective flights. To reduce inconvenience and waiting time, these passengers will have to go through a separate security screening process, bypassing the normal process return straight Till the Security Hold Area (SHA), according to airport operator DIAL.
The government has relaxed security protocols at airports, allowing passengers on flights delayed or canceled by more than three hours due to weather, fog or technical problems to disembark and return to the terminal. In response to these relaxed norms, DIAL has installed special enclosures at all three terminals—T1, T2 and T3—to facilitate their re-entry.
“Delhi airport introduces fencing for smooth security re-entry”
According to a Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) release, these enclosures, measuring 250 to 450 square metres, can accommodate 55 to 120 passengers at a time. These are designed to streamline security checks, ensuring passengers can easily re-enter the security hold area (SHA) of the terminal.
Summary:
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced that with the launch of direct flights to Bangkok, Indira Gandhi International Airport has become connected to 150 destinations. DIAL has also set up special enclosures for passengers on delayed flights, allowing speedy re-entry through separate security checks in the security hold area.
