Meeting on a dating app is not a dilemma.
A study published in Social Sciences Journal determined that people who match on dating apps can have just as strong a romance as those who meet in person.
Researchers surveyed 233 college students about their relationship experiences to determine whether dating couples affected the quality of their relationships.
Ultimately, they found no significant differences based on whether the relationships began online or face-to-face.
“The results of this study show that there was no statistical difference in relationship satisfaction based on how people created the relationship,” said study author Mickey Langlais, assistant professor in the department of anthropology and design at Baylor University. told PsyPost,
“People who met their current (and former) romantic partners face-to-face experienced similar levels of satisfaction compared to those who met their partners on dating applications.”
In today’s digital age, Most couples meet online And a report found that the majority of users (63%) created a dating profile with the intention of starting a serious relationship.
And yet, some people are still embarrassed about how they met – Some couples are even lying about how they met,
“I think people are embarrassed [that] They were looking for love.” Dating Expert Talia Coren before this told The PostEven if dressing up and going out looking for it IRL is intentional.
But as swiping on dating apps has now become the norm for most single people, the embarrassment seems to be waning.
Langlais said, “During the process of revising this article, the negative stigma around dating applications decreased, and the results of this study contribute to why people view dating applications as taboo or shameful. Are.”
However, the researchers noted that only a limited group was surveyed and that college students may have different opinions on dating apps than the general public – online dating has always been more common for the younger generation.
So whether your first words are typed or spoken out loud, there will always be a possibility for happiness.
