Her love life is flipped upside down when she comes across her first love, Atlas Corrigan. The star-studded cast features Baldoni, Blake Lively, Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, and Hasan Minhaj.
In an interview with Forbes contributor Jeff Conway, Boldoni discussed the challenges of balancing his dual roles as an actor and director on the project, admitting, “It’s very tricky.”
“So much of that work is done before you start production. A lot of it was character work and figuring out who Ryle was and how to live in that body, so that I was able to put that away and then focus on the directing on the day. So, once ‘Action!’ was called, I could go into that part of me where he was living. I wouldn’t have to create this whole character – that was really important,” the actor added. “The other thing is I love collaboration, so I’m a director that loves to know how something lands with the people around me. I believe that art needs to be expressed collaboratively.”

There’s no official announcement yet about a sequel to It Ends With Us (Colleen Hoover released a follow-up novel continuing Lily’s story called It Starts With Us in 2022). When asked by Entertainment Tonight about making another film, Baldoni replied, “You’re gonna have to ask me in a little while. We’re gonna take a vacation after this.”
“I think there are better people for that one,” he added, suggesting that he is ready to pass the directing baton to his co-star. “I think Blake Lively is ready to direct. That’s what I think.”
