Don Johnson met the mother of his oldest child in an unconventional way.
in an interview with people magazineThe “Miami Vice” star recalled that he met model and actress Patty D’Arbanville “because I was working on a movie in New York, and I went to Andy Warhol’s Factory.”
“I went in and at the table was standing the mother of my first son, completely naked. She was doing what I think was the first cover photo shoot for Interviewmagazine,” he added.
“She was very beautiful and charming.”
Johnson was previously married briefly to Melanie Griffith in 1976 at the age of 18, after first meeting her when she was 14.
They divorced in November that year.
During that break, she and D’Arbanville became a couple in 1981 after reconnecting at a restaurant where Johnson arrived with then-girlfriend Tanya Tucker, but according to a 1984 interview with the magazine, D’Arbanville Went together.
“She left that night,” he told the outlet at the time.
“And we stayed in bed for about eight days. The boy of the house kept bringing food and water.
D’Arbanville became pregnant with his son Jesse and they agreed by mutual consent not to marry.
“I can’t commit to marriage right now,” he told her, and D’Arbanville replied, “I’m not even into that.”
Fatherhood and their relationship helped Johnson quit drugs and alcohol.
“One morning I went into the breakfast room,” he said in a 1984 interview. “The sun was shining, and the birds were singing, and Patty was feeding the baby. I staggered in and sat down and looked at her and she looked at me and I knew that if I didn’t do something she would leave. So I said, ‘Patty, I’m an alcoholic and a drug addict, and I’m going to do something about it.'”
In 1985, she got her breakout role in “Miami Vice” and a year later, in 1986, she and D’Arbanville separated permanently.
Johnson married Griffith for a second time in 1989, and they remained together until 1996. Johnson also adopted Alexander Bauer, Griffith’s son from her relationship with actor Steven Bauer.
Following her split from Griffith, the “Doc Odyssey” star married Kelly Pfleger in 1999. The couple have three children: Atherton Grace, Jasper, and Deacon.
The 74-year-old credits his happiness with Flueger to staying young and energetic.
“Marry the right one!” “A bad marriage will make you age longer,” she told People magazine.
