HOLLAND, Ohio — Donald Trump's eldest son competed against his father Wednesday night, taking aim at a Democratic rival in a small northern Ohio town.
Former President Donald Trump Jr. focused on education in a 30-minute address to a crowd of about 150 people in Philly just before his first debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
“The very first thing you, I or anybody can do for our children right now is take them out of public school,” Trump said to enthusiastic applause. “It's crazy. They don't know math, but they know all 17 secret genders. It's a form of indoctrination. And if she wins, it's going to get even worse. It's going to be a legal, sanctioned kidnapping of our children.”
A school board member from a neighboring Ohio city who attended the rally told the Post that Trump was absolutely right.
“The problem is really policies,” said the woman, who asked not to be identified. “We don't need to teach sexuality. We need to get back to just teaching. The current culture is confusing kids and keeping good teachers out of the classroom.”
Trump was in town to campaign for Bernie Moreno, a businessman who is facing off against longtime Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in a race that could decide majority control on Capitol Hill.
“I don't want the White House until we have the House and the Senate,” Trump said. “We've been there before. So we have to vote on the whole ballot. We have to vote on everybody down to the dog catcher.”
Moreno echoed that sentiment wholeheartedly.
“I want everybody here to vote and vote early,” he concluded, telling the crowd. “It doesn't have to be like this. Life doesn't have to be like this. We will take our country back. And it starts right now.”
The Ohio Senate race is closer than ever, with the latest poll from The Hill/Emerson showing Brown leading Moreno by just 2 points.
