Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have packed their bags and moved to the UK following Donald Trump’s election victory earlier this month, according to a report.
According to sources, the 66-year-old comedian and the 51-year-old “Arrested Development” alum are preparing to put their massive Montecito, California mansion on the market for a fresh start abroad. told TheWrap,
The insider says the couple, who married in 2008, will likely “never” return to the US on a permanent basis.
different source told tmz That the two decided to “get out” of the country shortly after the president-elect’s victory over Kamala Harris left him feeling “very disappointed.”
The former talk show host was vocal about her support of Harris — and even reportedly donated $3,300 to the vice president’s campaign.
In August, DeGeneres publicly endorsed Harris on Instagram,
“There is nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can’t wait for Kamala Harris to be our next President,” she captioned her post.
DeGeneres, who reportedly boasts a staggering $370 million net worth, has had an extensive property portfolio over the years.
His most recent home purchase was in Montecito, which he and de Rossi bought in 2019 for $27 million. The two lived next door to their close friends Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The couple are reportedly now living in the Cotswolds in south-west England – about two hours from London.
The Post has contacted representatives for DeGeneres and De Rossi for comment.
It’s no surprise that living in this area costs a lot of money. The pair will boast a number of celebrity neighbors including David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley and Jeremy Clarkson.
The area is also home to royalty, as King Charles and Queen Camilla own Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
And it looks like the “Finding Nemo” star and his wife have already settled into their new life in the UK.
Last week, the two were seen visiting Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog, in the area.
In a clip shared by the former “Top Gear” host’s girlfriend Lisa Hogan on InstagramThe couple were seen having drinks at the rustic pub while enjoying some live music.
DeGeneres is the second high-profile celebrity to flee the US after Trump’s victory.
Last week, Eva Longoria said she and her family swapped “dystopian” America for a brighter life in Mexico and Spain.
“My entire adult life has been here,” says the “Desperate Housewives” alum. told marie claire“But even before (the pandemic), it was changing. The atmosphere was different. And then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge.
She said, “Whether it’s homelessness or taxes, it’s not that I want to take over California – it feels like this chapter of my life is now complete.”
While homelessness and taxes have worsened in California under the rule of Democrats, the 49-year-old actress said on the contrary that Trump’s victory was also a reason to leave.
“The shocking thing is not that he won,” said Longoria, who volunteered over the summer to turn out voters for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz. “It is such that a convicted criminal who spreads so much hatred can hold the highest office.”
“If he keeps his promises, it will be a scary place,” she said, recalling how depressed she felt after Trump’s 2016 victory.
