Prime Video series had a good showing during the nominations as well: dramas Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Fallout both nabbed 16 nods as well. The latter is a video game adaptation, the sort of genre experiment that doesn’t always get recognition by a body like the TV Academy—but this year’s voters responded well to both it and 3 Body Problem, a hard sci-fi adaptation on Netflix that had an unpredictably good showing with six total nominations. Perhaps that show’s pedigree—it’s the first major project to be overseen by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss since their massive hit Game of Thrones, which hoovered up awards during its eight-season run on HBO—is to thank for that.
