An angry man allegedly stole a tow truck and damaged several cars in Sunset Park Friday morning after he noticed his vehicle was being towed, authorities said.
Police said the man hit the sides of several vehicles while fleeing with the tow truck, and his truck was attached to it as well.
The chaotic incident happened about 10:40 a.m. on 53rd Street between First and Second avenues when the tow truck driver attempted to repossess the man's vehicle, police said.
The man became angry and allegedly pushed the tow truck driver, got in the truck and took it for a little “joy ride” to 55th Street and 3rd Avenue, leaving a line of damaged cars behind him, police said.
He then abandoned the truck at 55th Street and 3rd Avenue and fled on foot, police said.

A man named Giro, whose car was badly damaged in the clash, said he could not afford to repair it, and hoped the police would catch him. News 12 reported,
“I have to call the insurance company or the police, I need the car to take my driver to school,” Giro said.
Police are currently searching for the man.
