Eric Adams ‘not concerned’ should ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo make a run for Mayor

Mayor Eric Adams is “not concerned” about disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo possibly eyeing his job.

Asked if he thought Cuomo would make a run against him in 2025, Hizzoner told reporters he wasn’t sweating it.

“[I’m] not concerned with that, I’m concerned with governing this amazing city,” Adams told said at an unrelated press briefing

“You don’t spend 35 years climbing to the top of the mountain and worry about the view. You enjoy the view.”

Insiders have said Cuomo — who resigned from office in 2021 while facing accusations of sexual misconduct — might decide to throw his hat in the race as he mounts a political comeback.

The former three-term Democrat ripped the Adams administration on Sunday for “two years of government incompetence” in managing the Jacob Riis Houses after reports of possible arsenic poisoning emerged at the lower Manhattan public housing complex.

“If this happened on Park Avenue, you would’ve heard it everyday. 1 reality for the rich &1 for the poor,” Cuomo posted on X, along with a video of a speech he made at the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights in Brooklyn.

New York City Housing Authority spokesperson Barbara Brancaccio hit back at Cuomo, calling him a “desperate fallen leader” who was using “fear-mongering for political expediency” in an online statement.

On Monday, Adams laughed off the suggestion that he’d been “betrayed” by Cuomo for the ex-gov’s piercing review of his administration.

“I don’t feel betrayed. Many people have their opinions… that’s just life in the big city,” he told reporters.

Cuomo’s spokesperson Rich Azzopardi didn’t immediately return a request for comment.

He previously said the former governor will “stand up and fight for the people of NYCHA against a failed bureaucracy every single day of the week, and twice on Sunday.”

Adams is currently facing down the barrel of a federal investigation into his 2021 campaign fundraising and grappling with the migrant crisis and low approval ratings.

The former police officer saw his approval rating drop to 28% in recent months — the lowest for any New York City mayor in a Quinnipiac University poll since it started to survey voters in 1996.

In December, a hypothetical head-to-head Democratic primary race for City Hall 2025 saw 44% favored Cuomo to Adams 24% support, according to the American Pulse & Research polling.
