Selleck said TV Insider That he was not happy with CBS’s decision.
“I’m pretty disappointed,” he said. “During those last eight shows, I didn’t want to talk about the end of Blue Bloods, but about it still being extremely successful.”
He explained that the show’s ratings were still strong, so, in his view, there was no reason to end it.
The “Magnum, P.I.” star added, “I’m not going to be a bitter old man who says, ‘Get off my lawn!’ I don’t believe in holding grudges, but if you say to the television networks, ‘Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot, and it will guarantee you win Friday nights for the next 15 years.’ ‘It would be almost impossible to believe.
The Emmy winner added, “My disappointment is that the show was always taken for granted as it performed from the beginning. So how am I feeling? It will take a long time to sort all this out.”

Selleck also had some very honest words about the TV industry.
“It is in constant flux. I don’t want to sound nostalgic and say it’s not as good as it used to be, but… I don’t see growth and confidence in the projects,” he told the outlet.
The TV veteran further added, “Actors are not widgets – people matter. No matter what kind of series viewers tune into, whether it’s cable or Netflix, they tune in again to watch the shows they’re interested in. I don’t think that’s ever going to change, but I don’t think it’s in a very good place right now, to be honest.
Selleck took another jab at the network for banning “Blue Bloods,” saying, “I’m still hopeful that CBS will come to its senses.”
“Blue Bloods” will air its series finale on Friday, December 13 at 10pm ET on CBS.
