Well, for anyone thinking that the love farmers find on the beloved series doesn’t last, you might want to think again.
Over the years, the hit show has spawned spawned eight marriages and 19 children.
While not all of the relationships formed on the show last the distance, many of them have.
Most recently, 2023 couples Farmer Andrew and Claire, and Farmer David and Emily, announced their engagements, while Farmer Brad and Clare welcomed a little baby boy.
Here’s a list of the Farmer couples who are still together.
Chris Newsome and Kim Tierney
Season 1 (2007)
Chris Newsome and Kim Tierney paired off in the show’s first season in 2007, and they’re still going strong.
They were the first Farmer Wants a Wife contestants to marry, with their ceremony filmed for season two.
They now have two children together, a son and daughter.
“From day one, it was amazing how we connected,” Chris told Woman’s Day in 2008.
“I’m quite slow to open up to people and warm to people.
“Sometimes I’m a bit standoffish until I get to know someone but when I met Kim, I felt like I’d known her for ages.”
Rob Hodges and Jo Fincham
Season 2 (2008)
Mount Gambier cattle farmer Rob Hodges fell in love with city slicker Jo Fincham, and the pair went on to marry and have three children — two girls and a boy.
“We were very lucky,” Jo told Adelaide Now in 2022.
“We could have chatted for ages and (the relationship happened) very naturally.”
Speaking in a separate interview with New Idea, Jo said she “never thought in a million years” that her life would turn out the way it did.
“I just couldn’t live back in the city now,” she said.
Damian Atkins and Rachael Peynenborg
Season 3 (2009)
Tasmanian farmer Damian Atkins and Rachael Peynenborg met on season three of Farmer Wants a Wife in 2009.
They married after meeting on the show and have three kids together.
Like Jo, Rachael said “not in a million years could I have imagined this would be the result of going on the show”.
“We’re doing great,” Damian told Woman’s Day in 2023.
“Just trying to juggle our businesses, farms and our three crazy kids.”
Scott Warby and Clare Spark
Season 4 (2009)
Scott Warby and Clare Spark hit it off on season four and started dating long distance after the season wrapped.
Scott lived in rural Mundingi and Clare was based in Brisbane.
But when Scott proposed to Clare nine months later, she relocated to his farm.
They’ve since gone on to marry and have two children together.
Clare told TV Week in 2020 that being on the show “worked out very well for us”, adding that Scott was still “very romantic”.
Brad Crane and Stacie Marmion
Season 4 (2009)
Another season four success story, Brad Crane and Stacie Marmion fell in love on the show and Brad proposed to her after six months of dating.
They married and have three daughters, who range in age from six to 10.
“I remember telling the producer, I am going to marry that girl,” Brad told Woman’s Day in 2019 of the day he met Stacie.
“And he turned (to me) and said, ‘Not yet, we have another 10 shows to go first!’”
Nathan McClymont and Amanda Ecker
Season 5 (2010)
These season five lovebirds had one of the fastest romances in the history of the series.
Nathan McClymont didn’t wait around, proposing to Amanda Ecker on the show’s season finale — and she said yes!
The married couple has three sons together.
Eldest son Mason, 13, is a “football nut”, Amanda told Mamamia in 2013.
“Ben loves to swim and ride his bike. He’s a little entertainer.”
After having a third boy, Oscar, 3, Amanda hasn’t ruled out having more kids.
“Oscar’s just been a little dream, so it’s hard to say ‘no more’,” she said.
Frank Atherton and Tenille Jolly
Season 7 (2011)
Season seven favourites Frank Atherton, from Queensland, and Tenille Jolly, from WA, hit it off instantly on their first speed date and the rest is history.
Two years after wrapping the show, Frank proposed (on Valentine’s Day, no less).
The couple, who live on Frank’s Hughenden property in Queensland, are married and have a son, Oliver.
“There was an instant spark and the conversation just flowed,” Tenille once said of their first meeting.
“Maybe I already knew it was meant to be.
“It was all just too easy.”
Sam Alford and Jodie Byrne
Season 8 (2012)
WA cattleman Sam Alford and Sydney-based travel agent Jodie Byrne are another couple to have had a happy ending.
Three months after the show aired, Jodie relocated to WA.
Sam proposed over the 2012 Christmas break and the pair married at the beginning of 2015.
They welcomed a child, River, in 2018.
Farmer Wants a Wife went on hiatus in 2012, had another season in 2016, and was then rebooted in 2020, much to the delight of fans.
Jess Nathan and Andrew Guthrie
Season 11 (2021)
This pair initially thought about dropping out of the show early because they knew they were right for each other.
But producers convinced Jess Nathan and Andrew Guthrie to stay until the end of the season because viewers loved them so much.
The couple did long-distance romance for 11 months after the show wrapped.
“After exactly 11 months of long distance and a million lockdowns later, today has finally arrived,” Jess announced on Instagram as she finally moved in with Andrew.
“So excited to start this next chapter with my love, starting with a big ol’ house reno on our brand spankin’ new property!
“(Well, new to us).”
In August 2023, the couple announced they were engaged, simply writing: “Farmer wants a wife,” with a picture of Andrew putting a ring on it.
Harry Lloyd and Tess Brookman
Season 12 (2022)
So smitten was Harry Lloyd with Tess Brookman that he relocated from his rural Kyabram location to the Gold Coast for a “cheeky gap year” while Tess finished her psychology studies.
“For him to make that decision and commit to it has been huge,” Tess said at the time.
“I really do love him for being so willing to move for me.
“I know that Harry’s making compromises for me right now, so I’m more than willing to do that in the future, because I really do love him.”
The couple recently shared picture of a holiday they took to the Whitsundays together.
Will Simpson and Jess Cova
Season 12 (2022)
After hitting it off in season 12, Jess Cova moved to Will Simpson’s farm in Berriwillock, Victoria, and the couple have “run with it”, according to Will.
The pair regularly post loved-up, fun-filled pictures of their life together.
Jess joined the local netball team, began a nursing job, adopted a Dachsund puppy and generally continue to soak up country life.
Matt Young and Olivia Benic
Season 13 (2023)
Farmer Matt Young was smitten with Olivia Benic from the get-go and, it seemed, the feeling was mutual.
He chose Olivia for his first solo date and both admitted in later interviews that they knew they’d end up together.
Although the couple are still together, it’s not on Matt’s family’s sheep and cattle farm in Bookham, NSW.
Matt left the farm to take up a position with the Department of Agriculture in Canberra, where he is living with Olivia.
But the couple see themselves returning to rural life eventually.
“That is my future and where I see myself one day,” Matt told Woman’s Day.
Brad Jones and Clare Hockings
Season 13 (2023)
Things moved along quickly for this couple, who announced they were expecting a child together not long after the season 13 finale went to air.
Brad Jones and Clare Hockings are now the proud parents of a baby boy, Roy Grahame Jones, who was born in December 2023.
“We didn’t think it would happen as quick as it did,” Brad told New Idea.
“We’re on the same page and just happy doing life together.”
David McMahon and Emily Gordon
Season 13 (2023)
David McMahon and Emily Gordon became smitten early on in season 13, and after the show wrapped she moved to his apple farm in Pozieres, Queensland, to be with him.
In October 2023, the couple announced they were engaged.
“Incredibly proud to announce, this Farmer has found his wife,” David wrote on Instagram.
David proposed at Evamor Valley in Mudgee, the place where they had gone on their first solo date on FWAW.
“There was a moment at Evamor, when we were having a glass of wine as the sun was setting and I just knew this was something special,” David explained later.
“So, it was really important for me that when l asked Em to marry me, it had to be at Evamor Valley — the spot is just such a special part of our journey.”
Andrew Coleman and Claire Saunders
Season 13 (2023)
So certain was Narromine, NSW farmer Andrew Coleman that he’d found the one in Claire Saunders, the pair exited the show early.
Claire moved to Andrew’s farm and has soaked up life on the land and indulged her love for animals.
On March 17, 2024, the couple announced the happy news that they were engaged.
“I said YES to the love of my life 💍❤️,” Claire wrote on Instagram.
“So absolutely grateful that I wake up to this life everyday.
“You are my best friend @farmerandrewau and my safe place.”
