New fast-track immigration clearance programme at 20 Indian airports
As per the Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP), pre-verified Indian citizens and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders will be able to complete the immigration process in just a few seconds.
If we consider the current scenario then it takes at least 30 minutes to complete the immigration process.
Earlier this program was started on June 22 at Delhi airport. Report,
After its successful operation, the Ministry has decided to expand this programme to 20 other airports.
They have already started rolling out this new system by installing it at Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin and Ahmedabad airports.
Essentially, this innovative fast-track immigration program uses automated e-gates, which allow passengers to use biometrics to have a seamless immigration experience during both departure and arrival.
This also helps you avoid the standard immigration queues and the lengthy process is completed in just a few seconds!
How does this new immigration clearance service work?
According to officials, this Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme will help in faster, smoother and more secure immigration clearance at Indian airports.
According to the report, so far, more than 18,400 Indian passport and OCI card holders have registered for FTI-TTP to ensure seamless immigration.
Operationally, this new programme is being implemented through an online portal and the Bureau of Immigration is the nodal agency for the same.
Once all the required verifications are done, passengers will be added to a whitelist of 'trusted travellers' who will manage e-gate access.
Please note that biometrics of these passengers will be captured at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office or at the airports.
As soon as the registered passenger arrives at the e-gate, he or she simply needs to scan the boarding pass and passport, and provide biometrics for authentication.
Once their identity is established, the e-gate will automatically open and immigration clearance will be deemed to have been granted.
How to apply for the Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveler Program?

2. There they have to submit the required details for verification by the Immigration Bureau.
