The FBI has raided the home of Oakland, California’s Democrat mayor, Sheng Thao, according to reports.
The raid went down just before 6 a.m. Thursday morning on Maiden Lane in the suburban outskirts of Oakland, with federal agents knocking on the home’s door and rousing somebody inside to begin a search, according to ABC 7.
“The FBI is conducting court authorized law enforcement activity on Maiden Lane. We are unable to provide additional information at this time,” the FBI told the outlet in a tight-lipped statement.
Exactly what the FBI was investigating also remains unclear.
Thao has not been publicly accused of any crimes, but she has faced harsh criticism in recent months over a sky-rocketing crime in Oakland since she took office in 2023.
Her troubles ramped up in May after an effort to recall her from office gained enough signatures to appear on a November ballot.
A woman described by ABC 7 as a visitor from out of town was reportedly staying at the house when the raid went down.
Thao has not commented on the raid, and could not be reached when contacted by The Post.
She was due to appear at an event Thursday morning, but cancelled.
