The Feds have subpoenaed one of Eric Adams’ associates and a shadowy political fund tied to the mayor’s embattled top fundraiser, The Post has learned.
Sources close to the case told The Post that the Rev. Alfred L. Cockfield’s political action committee – Striving for a Better New York – was subpoenaed in early November.
According to sources, the feds for the Eastern District of New York sought financial records from the PAC, which Cockfield founded during Adams’ 2021 mayoral run. The purpose of the search remained unclear.
The PAC has drawn scrutiny for giving away very little of the $1.3 million it raised for political activities, while generously compensating Cockfield, as detailed in a 2022 New York Times article. report,
In addition to Cockfield’s connection to Adams, the PAC also has ties to Brianna Suggs – the mayor’s chief fundraiser whose Brooklyn home was raided by federal authorities In November 2023.
Cockfield did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday, nor did Suggs’ attorney.
A spokesman for the Eastern District of New York declined to comment.
