A fire broke out at an NYPD auto pound in Brooklyn on Wednesday, two years after a fire destroyed 22 vehicles. destroyed decades of evidence at the facility, officials and sources said.
According to the FDNY, a fire broke out at the Erie Basin Auto Pound in Red Hook at 12:47 p.m., sending a plume of smoke overhead.
Law enforcement sources told The Post that 22 cars were damaged by the flames.
The FDNY said more than 100 smoke detectors responded to the two-alarm fire.
There were no reports of injuries and the fire was brought under control after about two hours.
The horrific incident comes years after a massive three-alarm fire destroyed cold case evidence stored inside the warehouse on December 13, 2022.
