A bushfire broke out in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park on Friday night amid historically dry weather, officials said.
According to the FDNY, firefighters responded to the blaze in a meadow in the middle of the popular greenspace known as Nethermead.
The FDNY received the first call about the fire around 6:40 p.m. and firefighters were actively trying to extinguish the fire more than an hour later.
Fire officials said no injuries were reported.
The city has experienced dry conditions for weeks. October saw the second-longest rain-free streak in the Big Apple’s recorded history, with just .81 inches of rain compared to an average of 3.81 inches, officials said.
In nearby New Jersey, at least four brush fires were burning across the state Friday, including one along the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs.
That fire, which is just across the Hudson River from Manhattan, reportedly spread smoke over parts of the city.
