The new details that VF has provided for the film provide some information about the sets we can expect from the film next year:

“Guillermo del Toro has spent a lifetime imagining his adaptation of Mary Shelley’s story of a doctor (played by Oscar Isaac) who tampers with the natural order by transforming dead tissue into a new creature (Jacob Elordi). Much of the film, including this laboratory scene, takes place within the remains of once great structures. “Gothic romance was partly born out of a fascination with ruins,” del Toro tells VF. “Sometimes they are more beautiful than the whole building because it is a struggle of creation and destruction.”
