A suspect from Florida was arrested Allegedly planning to make a bomb The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) this week, according to disturbing court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.
The suspect, Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, 30, was arrested on Wednesday and reportedly intended to carry out a terrorist attack in New York City sometime during the week of November 18.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida announced Yener’s arrest Wednesday night and said he was charged with “attempting to use an explosive device to damage or destroy a building used in interstate commerce.” The allegation was made.
The suspect had unknowingly worked with undercover FBI agents before he was arrested.
To carry out the attack, the suspect tasked agents with “procuring explosive elements for the device, monitoring the business, and obtaining photographs of the building to identify the exact location to detonate the explosive device.”
“Yenner planned to wear a disguise while planting an explosive device outside a business and recorded a message to deliver to the press about the reasons for the attack,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.
“Yenner estimated that the impact of the blast would be ‘like a small nuclear explosion’ and that ‘(a)nything outside the building would be destroyed’ and ‘anything inside there would be destroyed’.”
The FBI began monitoring the suspect in February 2024.
According to court documents filed Wednesday, agents were notified when they learned Yener “was storing bomb-making plans in an open storage unit in Coral Springs, Florida,” the filing said.
The FBI searched his unit in March and found electronic circuit boards, bomb-making sketches, and several watches with timers.
When agents interviewed Yener, he told them that he had considered joining ISIS in 2015, when a self-identified member offered to recruit him.
But he chose not to participate.
” Yener said he has not decided to join isis in 2015 because Yener believed that ISIS would ultimately not succeed in achieving its objectives,” the documents state.
The suspect later met with an undercover FBI agent, who he believed was part of a militia group.
While speaking to the agent, Yener reveals a plan to bomb the NYSE the week of November 18, 2024.
He said his goal was to “reboot” or “reset” the US government.
Yener subsequently spoke several times with undercover agents and a confidential source.
The suspect reportedly demonstrated disturbing knowledge of terrorist activities and discussed his desire to target civilian areas.
“Yenner discussed how much of a inconvenience the bombing of the power plant would cause to the local government and community,” court documents say.
“Yenner discussed that if anyone was interested in causing casualties, they could target Walmart instead of the power plant.”
“Yenner told CS (confidential source) that if someone wanted to minimize civilian casualties, they could target Walmart at night when the store is less crowded.”
The FBI also discovered Yener’s YouTube channel, which was filled with videos “detailing how to make explosives and fireworks from household items.”
The channel also shared “several videos on how to make traps and triggers involving explosives.”
Yener eventually revealed that the NYSE was the ideal location and claimed that “a lot of people” would support the attack.
“There’s one place that would be very easy…the stock exchange, that would be a huge success,” Yener said.
“A lot of people will support it. They’ll look at it and think, man, this guy makes sense, they’re (expletive) robbing us. So this is perfect.”
The FBI also obtained a “demand statement” that Yener had recorded on November 12, which he intended to send to NBC News on or the day after a future bombing.
“When UCE-1 (undercover FBI employee) gave Yener a microphone into which Yener would record his statement, Yener commented: ‘I think so. bin Laden,” the document says.
Court filings detail the terrifying message recorded by Yener.
The suspect called possible terrorist attacks “a new revolution.”
Yener was quoted as saying, “What you saw on the stock exchange and in California was the beginning of a new era.”
“Be careful, if you raise your fists, we will cut them. If you kick at us, we will break your legs. If you speak bad about us we will cut off your tongue. If you are unwilling to stand up, you will become a victim.”
Fox News Digital contacted the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for additional comment.
