“Online gaming often gets a bad reputation, but our study reveals a different story. We found that gaming can actually help people develop valuable workplace skills,” said researcher Melika Shirmohammadi of the University of Houston.
“These skills include problem-solving, teamwork, leadership and even self-confidence. Our research shows that gaming, when done in moderation, can be a way for people to grow personally and professionally,” Shirmohammadi explained.

The study spent 20 years tracking the habits of 23 gainfully employed gamers devoted to their consoles.
The aim was to see if there were properties gamers used in virtual worlds that might inadvertently come into play.
Respondents said they approached their jobs the same way they approached the challenges found in their favorite sports.
He praised his chosen hobby for giving himself more patience, perseverance and encouragement.
Others said that accomplishments in video games helped them develop confidence that carried over professionally; More said gaming helped them with self-awareness of their skills in an environment with teammates.
