A cadre of 10 juvenile delinquents were arrested for committing nearly two dozen retail thefts in San Francisco — including a 12-year-old boy — and made off with $84,000 in merchandise during the heists, according to police.
The diminutive crooks have been wreaking havoc across the Bayside city for months – police are linking them to a series of robberies that began in August, San Francisco Chronicle The report was made citing the police.
The San Francisco Police Department was able to link members of the group – which included an 18-year-old, a 12-year-old, three 14-year-olds and three 15-year-olds – to the robberies. The outlet reported that targeted pharmacy chains.
The Burglary and Organized Crime Unit first noticed a pattern when a group allegedly overturned a Walgreens on Sept. 23, including a violent attack on an employee, the Chronicle reports.
The worker suffered a “serious head injury,” according to SFPD.
Investigators were then able to link the group to several other similar robberies.
In a robbery on September 29, some of the group made off with $15,000 worth of merchandise from a store on Castro Street. A few hours later, the group returned for another raid and stole more than $12,000 worth of goods, according to the Chronicle.
Officials say the group is also linked to some high-profile incidents.
Police say in the September 9 incident, one of the 14-year-olds pointed a gun at a store security guard on Mission Street as the group stole a cash register. That bad seed is attacked with a deadly weapon.
Police say a pair of youths, a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old, are responsible for the carjacking that occurred on November 5.
The 12-year-old is facing multiple charges, including assault likely to cause great bodily injury, three counts of second-degree robbery, seven counts of second-degree burglary, seven counts of grand theft, 10 counts of organized retail theft Cases included. and four counts of petty theft.
Brandon McClain, 18, is charged with four counts of second-degree theft, four counts of grand theft and four counts of organized retail theft.
According to the Chronicle, McClain is being held without bail.
