Gautam Adani takes home a pay cheque that’s less than the one Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani had capped down to but also significantly lower than what his executives are paid. Even then, the founder of the Adani Group holds rank as the second-richest individual in India with a net worth of Rs 85 billion (Rs 7 lakh crore) and, as of this moment, is the 19th richest person in the world.
In the past, Adani has beaten Ambani to hold the top spot in the country. However, if one were to look at his salary for the last financial quarter, they’d be surprised to learn that the billionaire doesn’t take home multiple crores.
According to an annual report of the Adani Group’s 10 listed entities, the business tycoon received a salary from only two of his 10 companies, Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) and Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd (APSEZ), PTI reports.
Gautam Adani earns this amount as a salary and it is a lot less than Mukesh Ambani’s
For the 2023-2024 financial year, Gautam Adani earned a total of Rs 9.26 crore, which is lower than Mukesh Ambani’s salary, which was capped at Rs 15 crore in 2009, and his executives in the Adani Group.
Salary from AEL
Adani’s salary from the group’s flagship company, Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), was Rs 2.19 crore, with perquisites, allowances and other benefits amounting to Rs 27 lakh, rounding it up to Rs 2.46 crore. PTI reports show this is a 3 percent increase from the previous financial year. In contrast, his younger brother, Rajesh Adani, earned a salary of Rs 8.37 crore, which included a Rs 4.71 crore profit commission, and his nephew, Pranav Adani, earned Rs 6.46 crore, including a Rs 4.5 crore commission, from AEL. Meanwhile, a key executive and director on the AEL board, Vinay Prakash, received a compensation of Rs 89.37 crore. CFO Jugeshinder Singh was reported to have earned a salary of 9.45 crore.
Salary from APSEZ
Adani earned a Rs 1.8 crore salary from Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd (APSEZ) and a Rs 5 crore commission, payable in the 2024-25 fiscal year. This is lesser than the salary his son, Karan Adani, earned from the company, which is Rs 3.9 crore.
