Gen Z employee’s text leaves colleague ‘speechless’: ‘What a move’


A lawyer has sparked a major online debate after sharing his junior colleague’s work chat messages which he claims left him “speechless”.

Ayushi Doshi works as a lawyer at a firm in Mumbai, India, and recently Was informed that he would be coming to work late the next day. ,

“Hi sir and madam. I will come tomorrow at 11:30 am as I am currently leaving the office at 8:30 pm,” the note reads.

Sharing the screenshot, Ms Doshi said that she could not believe that my junior sent this to me.

“Children today are different. He stayed late, so now he will come late to the office to make up for it. What a trick! I am speechless,” she wrote.

The post quickly went viral and has now been viewed over 7.3 million times, with many social media users sharing their thoughts on the situation.

Unfortunately for Ms Doshi, the post did not receive the support she hoped for, with only a few commentators agreeing with her stance, while the rest criticized her over her response to the situation.

Most commenters immediately defended the junior employee, claiming he was simply setting boundaries and ensuring she maintained a healthy work-life balance.

“Our profession has normalized and widely accepted this toxic exploitation. However, there is nothing wrong with what your junior is expecting. You pay him for the hours he puts in, not for the drafts. If his hours aren’t that good, you hired the wrong junior,” one person wrote.

One commentator questioned why he let him work for so long, while another praised the young player for standing up for himself.

“Having the audacity not to sleep in the office,” another said sarcastically.

One said: “It’s 2024, don’t make a fuss. People’s personal lives are opposite to yours. No one should stay after work hours, simple.”

After seeing all the feedback, Ms Doshi tried to clarify the situation further, revealing that the worker was given a time limit to complete the task which would normally require at least a full day’s work. Is required.

However, the additional clarification did little to change people’s opinions, with many pointing out that she could have expressed any concerns with the worker in person, rather than posting it online for all to see and being “humiliated.” “Instead of doing.

Ms Doshi also claimed that he came to work late “all the time” and often left work incomplete to be completed the next day.

“Still things don’t work out. If you agree with the text, please understand the entire background before attacking me and calling me a bad senior,” she said.

“I’m not forcing them to stay up late and ruin their mental or physical health.”

He claimed it was “inappropriate” for a junior employee to seek compensation in this situation, adding that “that’s not how corporate or any business works”.

“Let’s focus on practical solutions before labeling someone toxic. By the way, this person is not reporting to me; I just shared a screenshot that was sent to me in our official group,” she said.

Ms Doshi’s final clarification left no stone unturned in winning over commenters, with many now labeling her “completely unprofessional” and claiming that her follow-up post exposed her responsibility for sharing the message in the first place. The decision was not justified.
