A Gen Zer who was reportedly rejected for a “shoo-in” job because of her age is spilling her guts, and a few tears, on social media.

Frustrated TikToker @fungalmicrobe managed to garner a fair amount of sympathy after sharing a frustrating conversation with a hiring manager – who reportedly refused to offer her a role she believed was for her. Would be absolutely appropriate.

Alejandra claimed that a Gen X hiring manager told her she wasn’t hired because she’s Gen Z.

“It’s been making me cry for most of the last five hours,” the woman shared.

She explained that she had applied for a job that she felt “really good” about because it was at a company she had worked for before – with the same team that she had worked with “excellently”.

“Everyone on that team really liked me,” she insisted, though she noted that no one alerted her to the job opening — despite promises that they would when she left. Will keep it updated.

After not hearing back for a while, Alejandra found herself in an elevator with the Gen X hiring manager when she learned the position was filled.

But when Alejandra asked the hiring manager to be frank with her and tell her if there was anything she could do better in future interviews, she began to feel that the situation was unfair.

The hiring manager acknowledged that Gen Z’ers “shared things they couldn’t share” such as medical issues – and their obsession with gaining a social media presence.
