Two “Grey’s Anatomy” stars have spoken out about Elizabeth Finch, Former writer for the show who pretended to have cancer.
Finch’s story was recently featured in a Peacock documentary “Anatomy of a lie,” Who addressed his web of lies He was fired from “Grey’s” after serving as both a writer and producer from 2014 to 2022.
Jessica Capshaw and Camilla Luddington, who play Arizona Robbins and Jo Wilson on the series, respectively, addressed the documentary on Monday’s episode. “Call It What It Is” Podcast,
Capshaw, 48, said, “It never occurred to me to not believe him. The things he lied about, you could never in a million years imagine him being questioned.”
Ludington, 40, asked Capshaw why he wasn’t completely “surprised” that Finch was lying about his cancer diagnosis.
“It’s very hard to explain,” Capshaw began. “Certainly I was surprised that she was not who she actually said she was, and that she was not reporting any experiences that were actually hers. But I’m not surprised that someone could do this. And I felt like, ‘Oh, okay, she was really good at it because I trusted her.’
Capshaw said, “But then again, I wasn’t sitting in the seat of the woman he married and represented a completely different life.” “It feels like a movie.”
Luddington declined to talk about his personal experience with Finch on set. The long-running ABC show, But he shared a story about Finch that he’s never told before.
“I remember going to Hawaii for the first time, and I was so excited that I could afford to go to Hawaii. I was never able to buy something so tropical and glamorous. And I told everyone I was going to Kauai, and I was really excited. And I was going with my boyfriend, who is now obviously my husband,” she recalled.
“I think that trip took about three days [Finch] Was sitting in the hotel bar,” the British actress added. “I sat at the bar of the hotel I was in on Kauai, three days into my trip. Yes, she was with someone else, and I just remember thinking it was the most random coincidence.
Luddington confirmed that she “told a lot of people” that she was going to Kauai at the time. “I’m sure I would have told her,” he said, “Is there a world where she was on vacation with me in that hotel on Kauai? Sure. “There is definitely a world where that happens.”
“I don’t know,” Capshaw replied doubtfully.
“I don’t like to question that now, to go back and re-evaluate all that stuff,” Ludington said.
Capshaw remembered seeing Finch “all the time” on the show’s set. He also said that they had a casual conversation Capshaw was leaving the series in 2018,
Capshaw recounts, “When I left, I remember she came and found me and we had a really long conversation outside my trailer because she was so sad that I was leaving and wanted to talk about it.” “Maybe she wasn’t sad at all.”

Upon the documentary’s release on Peacock on October 15, Finch Apologized for his actions on Instagram.
“I have given no one any reason to believe a word I say. I lied a lot; Many people have been devastated by such things in real life. ‘I’m sorry’ seem like the smallest of words compared to what I’ve done, yet they are the truest,” she said in her statement.
“I allowed myself to lie, betraying and traumatizing my close family, friends and colleagues,” he said.
