John Reardon is opening up about his health journey.
The 49-year-old actor took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal that he has tonsil cancer, sharing a picture of himself dressed up and another picture of himself in a hospital bed.
“Last night was my first night back after recovering from tonsil cancer,” Reardon wrote Below his photos. “It’s been a long journey between these two photos and the difference is the love and support I have received from the people in my life.”
Taking a moment to highlight those who have been there for him, the “Hudson & Rex” star gave a shout-out to both his parents and wife of 16 years, Meghan Ory.
“To my amazing partner @officialmeghanory for taking over our entire world to help me be better. My brave children who inspire me. My dad took me for walks every day, even when it was difficult for me to get out of bed – and I’m sure it must have been difficult for him to see his son in pain. My mom @ocean__cottage who made me soup and ginger-honey tea and green juice so I could get the calories into my body.”
Reardon also expressed his gratitude to his family and friends and the incredible medical team who helped him battle the disease.
“My sister and brother @dr_laura_reardon@marcreardon81 who helped with kids and life’s challenges when I couldn’t help. The Hallmark vet continued, All of my in-laws, who aren’t just in-laws, they’re family, brought food and cookies and talked with us about the challenges.
Reardon continued, “Our grandmothers, our neighbors and all the people who sent food or love and support or messages and kind words and all the wonderful doctors, nurses, technicians, hospital staff, psychologists, you are all my heroes and I miss you below. I thank you from.” Of my heart.”
Concluding the touching post with some words of wisdom for his followers, the “Arctic Air” alum said, “Kindness is a quality that is underappreciated in people. We should never underestimate it. Celebrate it and share it as much as you can. Happy Holidays.”
Ori, 42, reposted his message on her Instagram Stories, revealing just how in awe of her other half she really is.
“This man inspires me every day with his strength, his kindness and a love that never once wavered, even when he was in extreme pain. You are my hero,” the actress wrote. “So proud of you @johnny_reardon_. And #CancerFree, I love you, love you, love you.
Reardon’s castmates took to the comments section to share their support, with actress Michelle Harrison writing, “Love and hugs to your sweet family. What a trip you all have had,” while film writer Christy Will Wolf chimed in, “Love you Johnny! What a journey you’ve been on – it’s so amazing to see you on the other side and getting stronger day by day. Your family is so beautiful. What a beautiful soul you are!”
Expressing sweet sentiments, “Once Upon a Time” alum Rebecca Mader sent Reardon well wishes on his recovery: “So glad to hear you’re on the other side. Congratulations! Lots of love to you and your family. Love.”
