Harry & Meghan can’t read the room— as their ‘Polo’ dud proves

Despite the collection of happy photographs (more personal photos were reportedly sent to friends), the vaunted Sussex corporation is a failed venture. After landing a massive $100 million deal with Netflix — the ultimate Nepo-baby trophy — the pair still can’t read a room or an audience.

His latest offering, the docu-series “Polo”, is a resounding flop.

Sounds great, Harry! I love sports. I love sports documentaries. I like Argentine people.

so even though The series has received critical acclaim.I went in with an open mind. That open-mindedness went dark about 10 minutes into the first episode, when, in an ambient state, I suddenly found myself studying the inside of my eyelids.

Still I persisted. I got injured again. I kept watching. But, soon, “Polo” turned into background noise while I was cooking. (At least my dinner was good.)

Sold by Netlix as “high stakes”, the five-part “Polo” features stakes as low as a $2 scratch-off ticket.

It does nothing to draw the audience into this rarefied world or convince them to get emotionally invested in the fates of these players. There is an abysmal failure to transform the action on the field into entertaining, dramatic footage. There are no highlight reels set to music. No training montages (and, has “Rocky” taught us anything, it’s that training montages rule).

It’s a snooze fest with beautiful people. But not the heart.

To be honest, this is to be expected, given that both Harry and Meghan were reportedly heavily involved in the editing process.

Remember when Spotify is on Bill Simmons called them “f–kin grifters”Yes.

These two are great at one thing: exploiting the royal family. Lest we forget, her biggest hits have been that now-famous car-crash interview with Oprah and Harry’s scathing “Spares” memoir.

None of which makes them savvy TV producers, either (sorry, Netflix). or podcast host (Sorry, SpotifyOr, I predict, lifestyle entrepreneur.

While the Invictus Games, which Harry founded, is a truly wonderful initiative, Nobody saw “Heart of Invictus”,2023 Netflix doc about it.

There was also “Live to Lead” which profiled activists including Greta Thunberg. by collecting Material. Markle’s animated series “Pearl” was shelved before it even saw the light of day. His latest podcast with Lemonada sounds as rare as his expensive homemade jams.

“There will be no other deal. Might be a one-off but that’s it,” said a source.

But Harry and Meghan won’t learn any lessons. They are so blinded by their own good works that they cannot admit what they are doing.
