Michael “Mike” Misek, 50, was found unconscious inside his cell at the federal detention center in Honolulu on Sunday, according to the Bureau of Prisons.

His trial began in January 2024 and lasted about six months.
“At trial, evidence was presented that from March 2016 to July 30, 2016, Misek conspired with others to kidnap and murder 21-year-old Johnathan Fraser, with the belief that Fraser would be responsible for the death of Misek’s son. The crime boss has owned contracting, auto and fishing companies since at least the 1990s, and commercials for his extermination business, Kama’ena Termite and Pest Control, aired frequently on Oahu.

During his trial, he was also accused of committing crimes including murder-for-hire, robbery, kidnapping of a 72-year-old loan shark accountant, and releasing poisonous chemicals in a rival’s nightclub.

Before his death this week, the crime boss was scheduled to appear before a judge for sentencing in January and was facing up to life in prison.
