Richa Chadha, who previously worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the 2013 film Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, has collaborated with the director once again. She is playing the pivotal role of Lajjo in the big-budget period drama. According to a DNA report, she demanded a fee of Rs 1 crore for her role. Aditi Rao Hydari, who recently made headlines for her engagement with Siddharth, is also seen in an important role as Bibbojaan in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The same DNA report states that she earned Rs 1.5 crore for her performance.
In a recent interview with India Today, Manisha Koirala was all praise for Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar creator Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with whom she has teamed up after almost three decades of their first collaboration, Khamoshi: The Musical (1996). “I had to wait for 28 years to be working with Sanjay sir again. Trust me, I know the longing to find a good director,” she said. Furthermore, she continued, “When you are working with a director like Sanjay, you know his attention to detail. He’s watching everything. I have not seen many people do that. Not only that, there is a very human side to him. He knows the characters, the names of junior artists as well.“
According to Firstpost, Koirala demanded a remuneration of Rs 1 crore for the role of Mallikajaan. Meanwhile, Sonakshi Sinha is reportedly the highest-paid member of the ensemble cast, receiving a pay cheque of Rs 2 crore for her role of Fareedan. Additionally, after a hiatus of 14 years, Fardeen Khan has also made a comeback to entertain the audience with his performance in Bhansali’s period drama. He essays the role of Wali Mohammed for which he charged a fee of Rs 75 lakh, according to DNA.
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar will be available on Netflix from May 1, 2024.
