Police were called in after his girlfriend, who remains unnamed, confided in someone that Prokop had assaulted her, Victoria Police Department Sergeant Dailey told TMZ.
By the time police arrived at the scene, the couple had left, however, an hour later they received another call about a second disturbance.
When they arrived at, they found Prokop and his partner.
The extent of her injuries was reportedly enough to warrant an arrest.
Prokop allegedly attempted to flee and was later charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
The 33-year-old rose to fame in the 2000s, first appearing on the TV show The Office and then Hannah Montana.
But his major breakout role came when he was cast in the 2008 film High School Musical 3: Senior Year as Jimmie “The Rocketman” Zara.
In 2011 he starred in the Disney Channel original film Geek Charming alongside actress Sarah Hyland, 33.
The two struck up a romance, with Prokop soon appearing in a guest role on Hyland’s show Modern Family.
He played Ethan, a love interest for Hyland’s character Haley Dunphy during the 2012 Disneyland episode.
The couple split in August 2014 and Hyland filed a temporary restraining order that lasted three years, claiming he was verbally and physically abusive.
However a month later, a permanent restraining order was granted, and Prokop has not worked in the entertainment industry since.
