The House Ethics Committee voted in secret to release the findings of its investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against former Rep. Matt Gaetz, according to a new report.
Gaetz (R-Fla.) resigned from Congress on Nov. 13 after President-elect Donald Trump nominated him for president. His choice for Attorney General – First Gaetz withdrew Eight days later due to concerns from Senate Republicans about those charges.
The secret ballot by the Republican-led Ethics Committee took place sometime in December, CNN first reported Wednesday, and the document is expected to be released sometime before the end of the month.
Spokespeople for the panel did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
Gaetz has faced allegations of sexual misconduct with at least one alleged underage partner over the years, which he has denied and said is a political smear, pointing to the fact that justice The Department did not pursue allegations while looking into the claims.
House Republicans previously blocked release of the report, with the Ethics Committee voting last month not to release it along party lines. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) argued at the time that it would be wrong to do so after Gaetz left Congress.
Gaetz, 42, now works as a host at One America News Network.
