The House of the Dragon Season 2 finale episode is here, and even though it was a little slow-paced, it was still a spectacle to watch. The last installment of the second season featured a lot of dragons and several new characters. One of these new characters is Admiral Lohar, who made quite an impression on everyone. So, it’s no wonder everyone wants to learn more about this character.
Who Is Admiral Lohar in House of the Dragon
Admiral Lohar, in simple terms, commands the 90 fleets of the Triarchy: Myrish, Lysene, and Tyroshi. For those unacquainted, the Triarchy is an alliance between the free cities, and for several years, they’ve been fighting against the Crown. In fact, in the first season, King Viserys sent Daemon away to fight and defeat the Triarchy, which was, at the time, led by the Crabfeeder.
After Crabfeeder’s death, it seems like Lohar took charge of the Triarchy’s fleet. We are introduced to this character when Tyland Lannister reaches Essos to convince Triarchy to remove the blockade. However, it seems that the Triarchy is less impacted by the blockade than the crown and the people in the kingdom. That being said, given the strong personality of Admiral Lohar, it wasn’t easy for Tyland to discuss the crown’s terms with these savages. Fortunately, Tyland impresses Lohar after a mud fight, and Admiral agrees to remove the blockade and send the 90 fleets to fight for the King’s Landing. Also, in return, Lohar asks for Stepstones, which Daemon took in the first season of HOTD.
Tyland agrees with the terms, and Lohar gets so impressed by the Lannister that they ask him to impregnate their wives. In the final moments of the episode, we see that Lohar stays true to their words and sends the fleets in support of the Greens.

Who Is Lohar in the Books
Firstly, you should know that in the books, Lohar is a man and is a Lysene Admiral. However, in the show, the character is portrayed by a transgender woman.
Like in the show, Lohar in the books commands the 90 ships of the Triarchy after Crabfeeder’s defeat at the hands of Daemon. He’s a proud man who believes in power and doesn’t shy away from showing off his fighting skills. Eventually, Lohar sends his fleet in support of the Greens, which leads to the Battle of the Gullet, the deadliest battle fought in the seas between the Velaryon ships and the Triarchy.
Even though the Triarchy brought the Velaryon to their knees and captured Prince Viserys Targaryen as a captive, they did lose around 70 ships. The Triarchy considers the battle a loss and blames Lohar for purposely holding back the Lysene ships and only sending Myrish and Tyroshi soldiers to their deaths. This eventually led to the termination of the Triarchy, with the three free cities following their own paths.
