While Google Chrome has evolved a lot over the years, and has also recently received AI features, Incognito mode is probably one of the biggest lifesavers of all time. It masks your browsing history and cookies, leaving absolutely no digital breadcrumbs behind. While you probably already know how to turn on Incognito mode on Chrome, if you’re here, you’re probably having a tough time turning it off. Turn Off Chrome Incognito Mode on PC

Close a Specific Incognito Window
If you’re on a Windows PC, you can simply use the Ctrl + W shortcut to instantly close an Incognito window and all its opened tabs. Meanwhile, Mac users can use the Command + W shortcut to do so.
Or, as I said before, you can spam the cross button constantly to close the Incognito tabs and windows. But, that can understandably get annoying. Lucky for you, there’s a way to instantly close all Incognito windows and tabs at one go. That brings us to the next section!
Close Multiple Incognito Windows
The good thing is that the Google Chrome browser’s interface is the same on both Windows and Mac devices. So, if you’re on either, to close multiple Incognito Chrome windows at once, follow these steps:
- Head over to any one of your Incognito windows on Chrome.
- Look towards the top right corner of your screen and click on the Incognito panel. This panel will list the number of such windows you have currently open.
- Then, hit Close Incognito, and that will instantly close all your Incognito windows on Chrome.
Turn Off Chrome Incognito Mode on Phone
On the Google Chrome mobile app, you cannot open multiple Incognito windows. Instead, you are left with opening multiple Incognito tabs. So, you can either choose to close a specific incognito tab or close all of them at once.
Now, the Chrome app for Android and iOS is slightly different interface-wise. So, to avoid any confusion, we have listed the proper steps to go about it on both of these platforms. Take a look:
On Android
- On an Incognito tab on Chrome, tap on the tab icon at the top right to get into tab overview.
- Here, you can simply tap on the X icon at the top of the tabs or swipe them left or right to close them.
- To close all tabs at once, when in the tab overview, tap on the 3-dots icon at the top right and select Close Incognito tabs.
Pro Tip: When you open an Incognito tab on the Chrome mobile app for Android, a notification access panel gets summoned. You can easily close all your Incognito tabs with a single tap on this access panel, which is super convenient!
On iPhone
- Head over to the Incognito tabs overview by tapping on the tabs icon at the bottom right.
- Then, you can simply tap on the small X icon at the top of each of these tabs to close them.
- If you want to get rid of all tabs at once when in the tab overview, hit Edit at the bottom left and select Close All Tabs.
