Hrithik Roshan’s fitness trainer shares how the actor got “shredded” for Fighter


One of the highly anticipated movies of this year has been Fighter, which stars Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in lead roles. Apart from this new on-screen couple’s buzz, Hrithik Roshan’s physical transformation has stunned fans and his peers. On his Instagram, the actor shared his intensive five-week workout routine that made him look ripped and shredded. One of the people who helped him achieve this impressive transformation is his fitness coach and trainer, Swapneel Hazare.

Hazare has been training Roshan for over five years now, and for Fighter, the fitness professional commends the level of commitment and drive that the actor brings daily. “It’s easy to say that’s a great looking body, but the hard work, time, commitment and effort that was put in by Hrithik is only known to the few who were involved and were around him,” says Hazare.

Roshan’s “before and after” photos are proof of the amount of hard work he puts in. “His workouts had a mixture of not only strength-focused exercises but also had a lot of rehab and core work to keep his body in perfect sync for the action and dance sequences,” says Hazare, talking about the 50-year-old actor’s workout routine.

In a GQ exclusive, Hazare completely explains how he helped Hrithik Roshan transform his body to look like a Fighter.

Hrithik’s workout schedule was planned according to his requirement of achieving a shredded look for action and dance sequences. Typically, the actor would start his morning workouts with 60 to 70 minutes of strength work, followed by cardio for 30 to 45 minutes. For a more defined and shredded look, the actor undertook double cardio sessions to get that sharp and lean look.

Although the workout was designed for the actor to meet his body requirements, the exercises were split into different body parts like chest, shoulder, and mid-section. Roshan’s workouts were also planned around compound lifts, supported by simple isolated exercises. As the period to achieve this shredded look was very limited, Hazare mixed exercises with a lot of drop sets and supersets.
