“I cried a lot, it was a very lonely time, especially when I felt like I couldn’t talk to the adoptive parents about it,” she told SWNS.
But months later, she decided to reach out to her siblings by sending them messages on Instagram.
She said: “I just messaged them saying, ‘Hey, I think I’m your sister’ and they asked me to prove it to them to make sure it wasn’t any pretense – so “I sent personal information and birth certificate.”
Mures and his siblings agreed to meet both sets of adoptive parents. They met in a restaurant in Birmingham.
“My emotions were mainly shock. “I’m not usually a very emotional person, I don’t really know what to say,” Moores said.
“It was very strange to see him looking exactly like him. I saw me in them.
“It hasn’t always been easy, but I’m glad I met him. It gave me the opportunity to know who I really am.
“It was unreal. For the first time, I saw people who looked like me, it was completely overwhelming.
The luxury retail employee said she always felt left out. Even kids in school used to tease him for looking different. She was told that she was adopted at the age of five. But, she has forgotten.
When she asked when she had grown up, she denied it. They did not want the information to negatively impact them.
Her parents Gillian and Pietro said: “It’s hard for us to talk about it, but it was selfish to hide it from her, and we regret it very much and we live with it every day.
“We love him very much and didn’t want him to give us away.”
Mures has built a relationship with her siblings, visiting them several times a year and says that it finally feels as if they really are brother and sister.
She emphasizes the importance of honesty about adoption, and believes it is important to be honest with children about their beginnings.
She said: “When I found out, I had a huge identity crisis, it felt like my life was a lie.
“But I don’t regret finding out the truth.”
Jessica says this discovery has helped her understand why she always felt like a deep connection was missing.
She said: “I look forward to furthering our relationship.”
