I quit my office job and now make $10K a month at 24 — here’s how you can too

A 24-year-old has revealed how she quit her full-time admin role and still earns $10,000 per month.

Amy Colston, from the Sunshine Coast, was working in a remote administration role for a car dealership in New South Wales and was earning $83,000 a year, including bonuses, before tax.

But, she has now quit that job and is exclusively working on side hustles, saying she has been looking for additional ways to make money since she was a teenager.

“I’ve been working extra jobs almost my entire adult life, I needed help to make ends meet during my university days,” she told news.com.au.

“But I remember being 15/16 and looking for ways to make money online and wishing I was old enough to sign up to all the sites I use today, so It’s always been something I’ve been interested in doing.”

Initially, it started with freelancing on Airtasker, picking up items and proofreading assignments before moving on to the other side, such as market research and surveys.

When she started full-time, she was trying to work one or two hours on weekdays and up to five hours on the weekend. He also started a TikTok account – @amy.coul – Where she documents how much she earns and from what.

She started posting more than a year ago after seeing people in the US doing the same, but realized no one was sharing platforms where Australians could earn some extra cash.

Now, he gets messages daily from people after they make their first $100 from the sites he recommends.

Recently, she earned $10,000 a month through her efforts – something she had been aiming for for a long time.

“When I finally hit it, I was absolutely thrilled. It seemed like such a big target so I was definitely shocked to see that number on the screen at the end of the month,” Ms Coulson said.

“Sharing all the sites I use on social media definitely has a massive impact on that number, and I never want to shy away from that fact.

“A lot of the sites I use offer referral programs that give me 30 cents to $1 if I sign up through them, so that obviously helps a lot.”

She said she also has some brand deals with various side hustle companies that pay her to share their sites, adding that this allows her to try out different of our sites and only recommend those. Those whom she considers worthy of it.

This allows her to leave her full-time role so she can focus solely on her side hustle, saying she made the move after being able to keep up with her full-time income for six months.

“The idea of being able to work for myself has always been a dream of mine and it felt attainable so I took the leap,” he said.

“I started by reducing my job from five days a week to four days and saw a big jump in extra income, so I eventually decided to go out on my own.

“It’s been less than a week since I officially ended my job, but it’s already such a liberating feeling to be able to decide when and where I work.”

Now, she’s trying to continue increasing her income and match the $10,000 she makes a month, while still having the freedom to do what she enjoys.

“I’m working a lot on my own every day, but it’s amazing to be able to choose the hours I want and have that flexibility in my schedule,” she said.

“This gives me a lot more time to try new sites. I’m constantly making new discoveries, so now that I have more time, I’ll be able to start working on my list more quickly.”

She said her favorite thing to do currently is market research, especially when she is being paid to give her opinion on products she may purchase in the future. This is one of the highest paying roles when it comes to hourly rates.

Amy understands there may be a dozen reasons why people hesitate to try the outdoors, she says it’s often down to misconceptions.

He said one of the biggest misconceptions is that people need to have a great understanding of technology to be able to do this

“Most of the sites I use have extremely easy apps that anyone can use! For things like market research, they especially want people who most of the time have no real knowledge about the product so they can get the opinions of the general population,” she said.

“Another thing I often hear is that people think it will take too much time to start doing extra work, when in reality you can find something that fits most people’s lifestyle.”
