A woman born with two vaginas has revealed the disgusting treatment she faces on dating apps.
Anne Charlotte, 26, was diagnosed with uterine didelphys when she was 16.
The uterus develops as two tubes that usually join to form a single uterus. However, in people with this condition, the tubes do not combine and two uteruses develop. In some cases, two cervixes and two vaginal tubes may also form.
Theoretically, this means she can get pregnant from both reproductive systems at the same time.
But Charlotte has revealed that opening up about her condition also has a sad side.
“I’m on a lot of dating apps now and people will say ‘You’re two years older’,” she told news.com.au.
He said he gets asked a lot of questions and he often comes clean. Men ask if she has “two kids at one time”. When she says she didn’t, the men immediately offer to “sort her out.”
Charlotte said she is rarely asked questions about who she is as a person.
She recalled a specific meeting with a high-profile man she was dating. He said things are going well. Then, after a few drinks, he came over with his friend.
“The next minute, he said he was thinking that he and his partner ‘wanted to be friends in different vaginas’,” Annie recalled.
Charlotte looked as if she had thought about it and rehearsed the speech. Annie was astonished. Eventually, he entertained the idea. However, due to the circumstances at that time, that person’s goal could not be accomplished.
In another situation a man went on a date with his friend. She was stunned and asked what was happening.
“He said, ‘Well, two vaginas so I thought two people would be suitable’,” said Annie.
He couldn’t believe what was happening. He felt as if the “humane” and “respectful” elements were missing.
Charlotte said that no matter what kind of job she does, she should be able to go on a date without being a tick box.
“With work, it’s very easy to be like, ‘It’s just a job.’ But in my dating life, I’m more than just my two pussies,” she said.
He said that sex is an important part of a relationship. But now he feels as if people do not want to know him. Instead, she feels like a box waiting to tick.
“It makes me feel like crap. People are just looking at me as a sex object,’ she said.
Charlotte said it was “disrespectful” and she is currently staying off the apps. But she wants to go on a date.
She said she wished someone had hit on her at the gym because it was “the only place she would meet men”.
He said he had not realized how “common a theme” it was for two men – especially friends – to engage in sexual activity with a woman at the same time.
When Charlotte was younger, she said she wasn’t as open about having two vaginas and would tell people personally.
He said that many people had come to thank him. He has said that their honesty has given him a reference point to bring up his concerns about his genitals to friends.
This is something she wouldn’t change for the world.
