If Doug Emhoff is the new face of masculinity, I’ll be rocking hard.
Name me the Marlboro Man or anyone who was in a Gillette commercial before the razor company decided to lecture America about the inherent stupidity of men.
or someone who hasn’t been Accused of forcefully slapping his girlfriend in public – He’s even been heralded as the greatest lift-up-the-dude to women since Jerry Springer played the macho feminist in “Married with Children.”
Just three days ago, in an MSNBC interview, Jen Psaki slammed Kamala Harris’s husband’s feminism, telling Emhoff that she “Reshaped the concept of masculinityAnd was a “wife man”.
Emhoff unashamedly said he was always like this: “It’s the right thing to do… Women shouldn’t be subjected to this.”
That is, unless that woman’s story gets in the way of the left’s hollow “believe all women” narrative.
Psaki, a former member of the Biden administration, made no mention of Emhoff allegedly impregnating his children’s maternal grandmother in 2009 while he was married to his first wife, Kerstin Emhoff.
Now, Harris and her media supporters are predictably silent because of allegations that, in 2012, Emhoff slapped an ex-girlfriend so hard that she passed out.
The disturbing claims were reported by the Daily Mail, which spoke to three friends of the alleged victim, a New York executive whom Emhoff reportedly dated for three months. The pair were attending an event during the Cannes Film Festival when he allegedly assaulted her because he thought she was flirting with a valet.
Friends, who provided detailed documentation to support the couple’s visit, claimed the woman slapped him and he forced himself into her cab. They broke up that night, but sources claimed Emhoff did not apologize.
He has not yet denied the claim or issued any public statement.
Very dark stuff. Especially since he is proclaiming his enlightened views on women empowerment.
“This is something I’ve thought about a lot, I’ve spoken about a lot,” he told Jonathan Capehart — again, on lib-friendly MSNBC — in 2023. “There’s so much toxicity out there – masculine toxicity, and we’re confused about what it means to be a man, what it means to be masculine. You have this trope where you have to be tough, and angry. , and to be strong is to hit hard.
Oh.
Shouting at the DNC, Oprah informed us that “decency and respect are on the ballot in 2024.”
It is not very nice to hit a woman. And Harris, given her commitment to female victims of abuse, should be outraged by these dark revelations.
As should all the A-list women who cheer them on: women like Julia Roberts, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, and Meryl Streep, who famously called Harvey Weinstein “God.”
Then remember the endless musings on toxic masculinity Christine Blasey Ford accused then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh Were they sexually assaulted when they were in high school? Although she could not recall any time or place, nor establish that she and Kavanaugh actually knew each other, this did not stop the media from attempting to portray her as an unbelievable monster.
Many women in the media wore black to support Blasey Ford. Actors like Allison Janney, Kerry Washington and Debra Messing walked off their Hollywood sets.
One of the women who participated in that performative social media event? Then Senator Kamala Harris,
“Wearing black today in support of all survivors of sexual assault or abuse. We will not allow them to be silenced or ignored. #BelieveSurvivors,” she posted.
Today there is no dark shadow of grief on anyone’s face. There are no hashtags. No resentment. Joy still rules. Emhoff is still a kid.
A quick Google search of Second Gentleman turns up no mention of this alleged attack. Most of the media has ignored it. Politico has nothing to say about it, but Expressed his opinion in a tweet J.D. Vance’s beard “may be a negative symbol representing aggression and opposition to feminist ideals.”
Hey, at least Emhoff didn’t use the violent phrase “childless cat ladies.”
And to anyone who says, “But he’s not going to run for office”: If Nancy “Just Say No” Reagan had secretly hosted coke parties, we would have cared. Supporting women is Emhoff’s whole personality. Granted, Trump has his own faults and accusations, as we are reminded daily, but he makes no claim to the moral high ground.
If you’re going to build your political identity by being a party of women that believes in women and supports victims, find a consistent line. Not just when it’s politically expedient.
Otherwise, the hashtag should not be #BelieveWomen. It should be #BelieveWomenOnOurSide.
