If Neeraj Chopra bags the gold at the Paris Olympics, cricketer Rishabh Pant will give a special cash prize to a lucky winner. Know how much it is

India is yet to bag a gold or silver medal at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics, and the nation’s hopes are now pinned on Neeraj Chopra. The record-setting track and field athlete launched his title defense in style, achieving an impressive 89.34m throw in the qualification round on Tuesday, 6 August.

This throw is just shy of his personal best of 89.94m from the 2022 World Championships, but surpasses his 87.58m throw that won him gold in the Tokyo Olympics. The men’s javelin throw final is scheduled for 11:55 PM IST on 8 August, with the entire nation eagerly anticipating a gold medal from the ‘golden boy’

After Neeraj Chopra stormed into the men’s javelin throw final, Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant made an exciting announcement on X, previously known as Twitter. Pant promised to choose one lucky winner from those ‘liking’ and commenting on his post, and award them with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,089 if Neeraj Chopra bags the gold.

“If Neeraj Chopra win a gold medal tomorrow. I will pay 1,00,089 Rupees to (a) lucky winner, who ‘likes’ the tweet and comments most. And for the rest top 10 people trying to get attention, (they) will get flight tickets. Let’s get support from India and outside the world for my brother,” Pant wrote on his official X account.

While some users speculate that his Twitter account may have been hacked, this seems unlikely as neither the cricketer nor his team has issued any clarification to ignore the tweet.

Pant isn’t the only one offering rewards if Chopra wins gold at the Olympics. Indian-origin entrepreneur Mohak Nahta, CEO of US-based online visa platform Atlys, has also made an announcement. He has pledged to provide free visas for all Indians for a day if Chopra clinches the gold. To take advantage of this offer, you simply have to comment with your email address on Nahta’s LinkedIn post.

If Neeraj Chopra wins the gold medal today, he will become the first Indian athlete to bag two Olympic gold medals in an individual event. Additionally, he has the chance to script history by becoming the fifth man in Olympic history to successfully defend a javelin title. You can watch the live action on Sports18 channel, while the live streaming will be available on the JioCinema app and website. The event will begin at 11:55 PM IST.
